Jet ski operator in accident ID'd

State officials Tuesday identified the person who was operating a jet ski when it hit an anchored houseboat Sunday afternoon in Tulls Bay in Currituck County.
Jessica Coleman, 25, of Virginia Beach, was treated and released from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, said Master Officer Brandon Joyner of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s enforcement division.
Swimming advisory issued

An advisory against swimming was posted Tuesday at an ocean-side site in Currituck County, where state environmental health officials found bacteria levels in the water that exceed state and Environmental Protection Agency’s recreational water quality standards.
Currituck sheriff probes vehicle break-ins

The Currituck Sheriff’s Department is investigating a rash of vehicle break-ins in the Eagle Creek subdivision in Moyock.
Chief Deputy Sandy Casey said earlier today that nine vehicle break-ins have been reported since Sunday, eight involving theft of items from the vehicle.
In all nine cases, Casey said, the vehicle was unlocked. None of the vehicles were damaged.
Jet Ski hits house boat

State Wildlife officials are investigating a weekend accident in which a Jet Ski struck an anchored houseboat on Tulls Bay in Currituck County.
Geoff Cantrell, a spokesman for the Division of Law Enforcement of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, said two female riders were aboard the Jet Ski, but he had little other information Monday.
OLF meeting canceled, reset for August

With their fight no closer to being over than it was a couple years ago, Camden and Currituck officials continue to search for new ways to combat the U.S. Navy’s study of Camden for an outlying landing field.
On Monday, Currituck and Camden commissioners will meet with residents of Hales Lake, one of five sites being considered for an OLF, to discuss the unresolved issue.
Rocky road rage: Ice cream driver charged with assault

Call it rocky road rage.
An ice cream truck vendor is facing criminal charges after allegedly assaulting another ice cream truck vendor he claims cut him off in traffic.
Christopher Schurr, 31, of Poplar Branch, is charged with assaulting Artem Vladimirovich, 20, of Kill Devil Hills, in Corolla Thursday afternoon.
